Hurt at work? You deserve more than just first aid. Fight for full compensation.
By Eman Yazdchi, Esq. · Certified Specialist in Workers' Compensation Law
Getting hurt at work changes everything. One moment you are doing your job at a Glendale hospital, office, or retail store, and the next you are dealing with pain, medical appointments, lost wages, and the very real fear of losing your position. If you have been hurt on the job anywhere in the 91201 through 91208 ZIP codes, you have rights under California law that your employer's insurance company would rather you not exercise. Yazdchi Law P.C. exists to make sure you exercise every one of them.
Attorney Eman Yazdchi is a board-certified specialist in workers' compensation law. Board certification is the highest level of recognition the California State Bar grants in a legal specialty, and it means Eman has demonstrated expertise far beyond what is required for basic licensure. When you are hurt at work, you deserve a lawyer whose primary focus is getting injured workers the benefits they are owed — not a personal injury attorney who handles workers' comp cases as an afterthought.
California Labor Code section 3600 establishes that virtually every employee who suffers an injury arising out of and in the course of employment is entitled to workers' compensation benefits. These benefits are not charity and they are not a favor from your employer — they are a legal entitlement. They include:
Medical treatment. Under LC section 4600, your employer's insurance carrier must pay for all medical treatment that is reasonably required to cure or relieve your injury. This includes doctor visits, surgery, physical therapy, medications, and medical equipment. You have the right to choose your own treating physician if you predesignated a doctor before the injury, or after the first 30 days of treatment within the employer's medical provider network.
Temporary disability benefits. If your doctor determines you cannot work or can only perform modified duties that your employer cannot accommodate, you are entitled to temporary disability payments under LC section 4650. These payments equal two-thirds of your average weekly wage, subject to statutory minimums and maximums, and must begin within 14 days of the employer's knowledge of your injury.
Permanent disability benefits. Once your condition reaches maximum medical improvement, you may be entitled to a permanent disability award based on the lasting impact of your injury on your ability to work and perform daily activities.
Supplemental job displacement. If your employer cannot offer you modified or alternative work and you have a permanent impairment, you may receive a voucher of up to $6,000 for retraining or skill enhancement under LC section 4658.7.
Glendale's economic profile shapes the types of injuries we see. Unlike industrial cities where traumatic injuries dominate, Glendale's professional and healthcare-driven economy produces a high proportion of cumulative trauma and ergonomic injuries. These claims are inherently more complex because the insurance company will scrutinize whether the condition is truly work-related.
A Glendale office worker who develops thoracic outlet syndrome from years of computer use faces a different challenge than a construction worker with a broken arm. The broken arm is obviously work-related. The thoracic outlet syndrome requires medical evidence linking the occupational activities to the diagnosis, overcoming the insurer's argument that the condition could be caused by non-work activities, posture, or genetics.
This is where Yazdchi Law's specialization matters most. We have handled hundreds of cumulative trauma claims for professional workers. We know which medical evaluators provide thorough, well-reasoned reports on these conditions, and we know how to present the evidence to judges at the Van Nuys WCAB in a way that establishes industrial causation.
An administrative assistant working in one of Glendale's professional office buildings near the 134 freeway develops bilateral wrist pain after years of keyboarding without an ergonomic workstation assessment. She reports the condition to HR and is told to "take some Advil." Three months later, the pain is so severe she can barely grip a pen. We step in, file the claim, get her to a hand specialist, and pursue the temporary and permanent disability benefits she has been entitled to from the start.
A certified nursing assistant at a skilled nursing facility near Glendale Avenue injures his lower back while transferring a patient who weighs over 200 pounds. His employer has a "lift team" policy on paper but has never staffed it adequately. The CNA reports the injury, but the employer-selected MPN doctor clears him to return to full duty after just two weeks. We request a change of treating physician and get him to a spine specialist who accurately documents the severity of the injury.
A sales associate at a store inside the Americana at Brand slips on a wet floor in the back hallway during the holiday season. She fractures her wrist and needs surgery. The employer claims she was "not in her designated work area" when the fall occurred. We establish that she was performing a work task at the time and the insurer's denial is unfounded.
We do not take a case and hand it to a paralegal. Eman Yazdchi is personally involved in every claim, from the initial consultation through settlement or trial. For Glendale workers who are accustomed to dealing with professionals, this direct-attorney model provides the responsiveness and strategic guidance that a factory-style law firm cannot offer.
Our firm handles Glendale cases at the Van Nuys WCAB, and we operate on a contingency fee basis — you pay nothing unless we recover benefits for you.
